Your Purpose Is Closer Than You Think

So many people are quietly stressed trying to answer one question:

What is my purpose?

We think purpose has to be something big. Public. Impressive. Platform-worthy.

And when our lives don’t look like that, we assume something is wrong with us.

But Scripture gently shifts the conversation.

Jesus said, “Abide in Me, and I in you.”

Not: figure everything out.

Not: build something famous.

But: stay connected.

Rick Warren says our first purpose is to bring glory to God, and that can sound churchy, until you realize what it really means:

To reflect God’s love…

To live in a way that points back to Him…

To show His character wherever your feet are planted.

That means purpose isn’t always a stage.

Sometimes it’s a kitchen table.

I have a friend raising her grandchildren. This wasn’t her dream. It interrupted her plans. Some days she feels like her purpose was stolen.

But it wasn’t.

She is shaping lives. Healing wounds. Creating safety. Teaching love and stability.

And who knows?

One of those children may lead a city. Write a law. Heal a nation. Change the world.

And the foundation will be her faithfulness.

The Bible is full of “small” stories that became huge.

There was a young servant girl who simply spoke up about the prophet Elisha and a mighty warrior named Naaman was healed.

A boy packed a small lunch and Jesus fed thousands.

A woman quietly poured oil into jars and her family survived a famine.

None of them had a title.

But all of them had purpose.

Here’s the truth:

If what you’re doing is loving people…

Serving faithfully…

Showing integrity…

Raising children…

Caring for the forgotten…

Doing your work with excellence…

You are already walking in purpose.

Don’t minimize what God is maximizing.

Purpose isn’t always loud.

Sometimes it’s holy, hidden, and changing the world one ordinary moment at a time.
