Words Create: The Power of What You Say

Lately, in our Bible study, we’ve been walking through the Bible Faith Study Course by Kenneth E. Hagin, and one truth keeps rising to the surface again and again:
Words matter.
Not just spiritually.
Not just emotionally.
But creatively.
Jesus said something startling in Mark 11:23:
“Whoever says to this mountain… and does not doubt in his heart, but believes what he says will happen, he will have whatever he says.”
Notice the emphasis: says… says… says.
Faith is not silent. Faith has a voice.
God Created With Words
When we look at the beginning of everything, we don’t see God picking up tools.
He didn’t hammer the stars into place.
He didn’t carve out oceans with His hands.
He didn’t physically construct light.
Genesis simply says:
“And God said…”
Light came.
Order came.
Life came.
Creation responded to words.
God framed the world with His voice.
And Scripture tells us that we are made in His image.
That means our words also carry creative power—not divine power, but delegated influence. What we consistently say begins to shape what we experience, what we expect, and even what we attempt.
Faith Is Built by Feeding
Romans 10:17 tells us:
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Faith doesn’t come from effort.
It doesn’t come from hype.
It comes from hearing God’s Word repeatedly.
When we feed our spirit the Word of God, faith grows naturally—just like a body grows when it is fed.
And whatever fills the heart eventually flows out of the mouth.
So if fear is what we feed on, fear will be what we speak.
If doubt is what we listen to all day, doubt will become our language.
But if the Word is what we take in…
Then faith becomes our voice.
Be Intentional
This week, consider becoming deeply intentional about your words.
Before you speak:
Ask yourself, Is this building or breaking?
Ask yourself, Is this aligned with God’s promises or my emotions?
Ask yourself, Is this faith or fear talking?
You don’t have to deny reality.
But you can choose which reality you empower.
Because words don’t just describe life.
They help direct it.
